My Lord,
With reference to my despatch No.50 of the
24th ultimo I have the honour to transmit herewith
copy of a further despatch from His Majesty's Consul-
General at Shanghai regarding the alleged desire of
Doctor Sun Yat-sen to improve his relations with the
British Authorities.
In view of the last paragraph of Mr. Barton's
despatch I am taking no further action in the matter
pending Sir Ronald Macleay's arrival beyond sending
copies of this correspondence to His Excellency the
Governor of Hongkong and His Majesty's Consul-General
at Canton.
